Doctrinal Distinctives

This section relates to those areas where Bible-believing Christians have disagreed. Please note however that these issues are by no means the most important things to be said about our core beliefs:

  • We believe that men and women are created equal in value, dignity and worth and in their need for forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ, yet this does not mean that all roles are open to all. Men are called by God to lead in the home and in the church. For more on this see our position paper on Women in Leadership.
  • We believe that since God values all life, we are very strongly opposed to abortion.
  • We believe that since God values purity, all sexual activity outside of monogamous marriage (including adultery, polygamy, homosexuality, and lesbianism) to be against God’s law.
  • We regard the Lord’s Day worship (including weekly Communion) as the foremost but by no means the only essential activity of the church.
  • We are unashamedly covenantal and therefore presume continuities rather than discontinuities between the Old and New Testaments.
  • We are unembarrassed by the thought of a young earth and six-day creation.
